New Local Flavor Site

Jaemie just emailed me about a new site that I wanted to share: Stuff Yinzers Like.

In the vein of Stuff White People Like, they’re in the processing of documenting the cultural peccadilloes of our man crush (city crush? You get the idea) to the west, including this gem:

In the event that you might need to park on the street where Yinzers might live, be sure to NEVER, EVER move a chair to park. Regardless of your self-righteousness and knowledge that, not only is it legal for you to park in that space, it is illegal for the Yinzer to put a chair in the middle of the street, you or your car would most likely be in serious danger. Simply keep driving around and accept that Yinzer culture isn’t bad, it’s just different.

Although, don’t forget, around here it’s not “yinz“. It’s “yunz“.

A Johnstown man wearing boxer underwear, socks and a shirt was arrested late Tuesday on charges of attempting to break into an Old Conemaugh Borough business and threatening to kill a woman who lives nearby.

Campaign craziness sails off to next hot spot

The presidential election that blew through our region has now flown off to other locations in the shifting quest for votes and delegates.

We’re left to feel like the guy whose crazy, demanding girlfriend has moved on to another love interest. We appreciate the peace and quiet, but we kind of miss the attention.

Fish Tank Puts Out Fire

An electrical problem may have sparked a fire at the Szechuan East Restaurant in Richland Township. Investigators say the fire caused serious damage to the restaurant Wednesday morning.
The owners called 911 after noticing smoke, firefighters found the windows black and the fish tank melted. Officials say when the tank broke, the water inside helped put out most of the flames and stopped the fire from spreading.

Probably that big white fish that swam around in the tank was all grilled up after that. But no worries, though, I’m sure he was fine with some oyster sauce….

You know, The Powers That Be in this town need to take a hard look at how outsiders see us before they point fingers at locals for sometimes having exactly the same attitude…
